To the brand new Lampeter Students Union website.

 

As you can see we are still in the process of adding content but so far it's looking pretty fantastic. Please have a look around and let me know what you think we are quite eager for opinions. Whilst there are several empty pages still we have added in contact details so you can get in touch with us about the areas that interest you. Lampeter is a social place and we don't see a website as an excuse to put up information without talking to anyone, we see it as a way to get you interested and talking to us so get in touch.

really nice. Lampeter SU's full name is the University of Wales Lampeter Students Union and we are here to represent all students of the University of Wales Lampeter. You heard it here first!  After continued problems with our site over many years the problem is solved. Originally, we faced many web problems.  A bit of Union history for you (I have loads) one of the Union's web editors ran for president several years ago and more students voted for R.O.N (Re-Open Nomination) than for him.  Those of you familiar with our elections procedures will know what this says about the state of the site.

 

 Things were much better last year as the University's web editor kindly took on the task for us and we owe our undying thanks to Clive for that.  Sadly his time was limited as he had to edit the rest of the University site as well as revamp it into its new form.  However, the problem is solved as, with help from Matt the previous President (short hairy guy on a master's course) I have set up and begun editing this site. Below I will give an explanation of how it will appear when finished. Hope it makes sense.

 

 

Oh, and thank you Matt for all that research you did last year.  I think we can safely say you found the best option.

 

  1. Right, the workings
     

 

 

  • Bilingualism - everything the Union produces has to be bilingual. I experimented with putting both languages next to each other but it started to look messy, I am hoping to find another option just as soon as I phone Oncampus the people who built the site and ask them about it.
     
  • Union officers is a page for the executive officers who run the union. It will include an introduction, info on what they do, a contact address and a link to any web pages or blogs they may have (some of them are very modern).
     
  • Ents and Welfare - The union has two deputy presidents who cover entertainments and welfare, these being the two largest tasks the union udertakes accordingly they get their own sub menus each giving you info on what theyre up to. 
     
  • CSA stands for Clubs Societies and Associations this section will tell you aboput all the clubs that exist and how to join them and will eventually contain a little page for each Club (or society and association). 
     
  • 1822 is the official students union satirical newspaper, it is not quite Private Eye but its still pretty darn funny and i thought it would be good for them to have a page of info and maybe an online issue. I havnt told Cash the editor about this yet but he's pretty awesome so hell probably give it a go. 
     
  • Union Democracy will contain information on how the union works, your rights, voting and how you can turn up to forum and tell me what to do every month. We will also be uploading the unions constitution as soon as ive got the blood stains off it. 
     
  • Union services will tell you about our bars our shop and all the staff we employ to keep the place running. 
     
  • Links is obvious but will also contain contact details 
     
  • Online shop is ver very complicated but will be appearing in the distant future when i have time to sort it. 
     
  • Seasonal Tab - couldnt think of a better name its currently called info for freshers and contains absolutally no info for freshers. my plan is that that menu will change to cover whatever is hot at the time for example,
    Frehsers fortnight
    elections
    constitutional review (i think its cool)
    christmas
    presidents ball
    Jailbreak
    and my eventual impeachment for crimes against humanity.

     

     

     

    So any questions on this get in touch on the email at the top but please dont just send me grammer corrections, my grammer aint be doing that good but Nigel used to be an english lecturer so I will get him to look over it as well as Lance the guy who lives in my house but doesnt pay.
